Why can't I search in PDF document?

Question: I used to be able to scan chapters of books as a PDF and search words in the PDF document, but now whenever I search it in Adobe Reader, the PDF reader says it can't find anything.  Any suggestions on how I can get it to work now?

Solution: For scanned documents which is in PDF format, you can't search any text in it, because all "text" in the scanned documents is in  image format.

Before searching text in a scanned PDF document, you need an OCR tool to convert the image to text.
